"It's definitely a movie about people who try to be young while being old," Smith said. ![]() The filmmaker also made a concerted effort to not hide the fact that the cast members have aged along with their characters. Smith revealed that Randal's movie is called Inconvenience and that it will reshoot key moments from 1994's Clerks in black-and-white, replicating the style of the franchise's first title while differentiating the movie-within-a-movie scenes from the rest of the film. So our boys essentially wind up making Clerks."Ĭlerks 3 will be shot in color, with the exception of the home movie that Randal sets out to make. "But before he dies he wants to memorialize himself. "The film is predicated on the idea that Randal survives a heart attack, a massive heart attack, quite like I did, and then winds up, you know, deciding that he's wasted his life," Smith told Vanity Fair of the Clerks 3 plot. Writer-director Kevin Smith previously revealed that the story of the threequel would, at least in part, be inspired by his own life experiences, with Randal emerging as the main character after suffering a life-threatening heart attack in the movie - similar to the near-fatal heart attack that Smith survived in real life back in 2018. And we’re all gonna return to the scene of the crime! This won’t be the old script we almost made a few years back: this is a completely new screenplay that I just started writing last night! And so far, it’s like a dream come true! After mending fences with earlier this year, I was hoping for a chance to do the same with Jeff – so huge thanks to Leeloo Multiprops for getting us all in the same room. And it’ll be a movie called CLERKS III! To be great is to go on. Beginning in 1994 with Clerks, the View Askewniverse has featured a variety of different characters, from Jason Mewes and Kevin Smiths iconic duo Jay and Silent Bob to Jeff Andersons Randal Graves. It’ll be a movie that stars Jeff and with me and Jay in supporting roles. The View Askewniverse is still going strong to this day, with Kevin Smiths Clerks III arriving in 2022. It’ll be a movie that brings us back to the beginning – a return to the cradle of civilization in the great state of #newjersey. It’ll be a movie about how a decades-spanning friendship finally confronts the future. It’ll be a movie about how you’re never too old to completely change your life. RELATED: SDCC 2019: The Latest JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT Trailer Has Us Seeing Starsģ CLERKS! Thanks to the good folks at I got to see Randal! #JeffAnderson, and I spent Saturday signing stuff and catching up, seeing so much movie merch that’s been made over the last 25 years (hit the Leloo site for sweet signed skateboards)! But even better than that? We talked about making a movie together. I hope this means we are going to get Clerks 3 in the next two or three years. We know he can make quick turn around while filming, seeing as Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was done in quite a few months. We have no actual timeline of when this is all going to happen, but we do know that Kevin started writing the script when he got home that night. I understood when they decided not to go forward with the original Clerks 3 but I am happy that everything has come full circle. I can not wait for this to happen! Clerks and the world Kevin has built holds a special place not only in my heart but my close friends and family as well. We aren’t sure just how this third installment is going to go, but I know we can expect some pretty great jokes and hopefully some Dante dad moments. Kevin even announced that a new script is going to be written for this so those who went to the live reads won’t be disappointed. Of course we don’t know exactly went behind the scenes, but all three came out of that experience with the idea of bringing Clerks 3 to life. ![]() While signing merchandise for Leeloo Multiprops, LLC Kevin, Jason Mewes, and Jeff Anderson were all under the same roof. ![]() ![]() Like getting Ben Affleck in the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot we are getting our Randal back! However, this year is the year that keeps on giving. We even had a live reading of the script featuring members of the crew. I think every Kevin Smith fan is rejoicing today! Only a few short days ago we had all come to terms that we were probably never going to see the Clerks 3 that was announced a few years ago. ![]()
